The island of Vis is a cycling paradise for those old, young, native people or tourists, and truly all shapes and sizes. Various trails on the island contain different levels of difficulty, and while there are no exclusively marked cycling trails, you can ride along existing roads, well-trodden paths, and for those more adventurous - you can make your own.

This route is provided by the Tourist Board of Vis.

The route begins by taking the old road to Komiža where you must climb to the lookout and resting place on the south-eastern hill of Lučko Brdo. From here you will take the old road to Velo Poje. When you arrive at the top of the hill, you will find yourselves at Križ that underneath it will extend Velo Poje. The next point is Lokva where you will see a red clay house close to the miniature lake.

If you decide to follow the directions for Komiža from Lokva, the longest trail on the island is the old road to Komiža. From this road after you pass Plisko Poje, you can turn into the Marine zemlje - if you follow the right side of the road you will turn back to the plainest part of the road across Žužec which takes you from Dračevo polje towards the village of Podšpilje.

After Podšpilje, the road will take you through Podhumlje where you will see the Ravni lookout that protrudes south-west. From here to Komiža it is an easy downhill ride with a beautiful view over the Komiža Bay. To the west, in the distance you will see the Jabuka volcanic cliff.

Choose the new road to return to Vis which is 10.7 km and climb either by riding or pushing your bike along the serpentines through to the lookout at the top of St. Mihovil. You will then ride downhill for 15 minutes.

The length of the route is 30 kilometers. In order to avoid crowds and traffic, be sure to know what times the ferry boats dock into Vis.
