Cyclists and pedestrians are the most vulnerable groups of road users in the EU.

"Sigurnost u prometu" Association is organising a free safe cycling training this Wednesday, September 20, at Boćarski dom (Prisavlje 2) and Megastart driving school test site, Politika plus reports on September 18, 2017. The workshop starts at 4.30 p.m. and you can apply by sending an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. The organisers expect a big turnout because there are more and more cyclists in Zagreb each day, and the City of Zagreb has recognised the importance of this type of training, so the Association’s programme will be part of the European Mobility Week (September 16-22.)

“Škola bicikliranja 18+” (Cycling School 18+) is intended for all adult cyclists in Zagreb and the organisers include "Sigurnost u prometu" Association, Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, the Red Cross, Megastart driving school and Nextbike, and the programme is supported by the National Road Safety Programme of the Republic of Croatia.

In the 2010-2016 period, 180 cyclists were killed in Croatia, and almost 10,000 were injured, 2,388 of which were serious injuries. 61% of the total number of accidents was caused by cyclists, so it is clear that many cyclists are not well acquainted with the traffic rules and regulations.

“Participants will learn about the current situation in cycling safety, how they can participate in traffic, relevant regulations, CPR basics, the importance of cycling infrastructure, and the advantages of using public bicycles. The turnout and the feedback have been great so far, and we hope this year will be no different,” the Association’s spokesperson said.

“If you are interested, but don’t own a bike, Nextbike will enable you to use their bikes for free, and hand out HRK 100 vouchers.”

After the theoretical part has been covered, participants will put it into practice at Kockica test site on Prisavlje. The organisers have also prepared useful gifts for all participants, such as Nextbike vouchers, Cycling Manual, CPR Manual and reflective vests.
