Karlovac town is located in the heart of Croatia and at the juncture of four rivers: the Korana, Kupa, Mrežnica and Dobra. Situated 55 kilometers southwest of Zagreb, the town has approximately 55,000 inhabitants. Known as the place where the mountain ridges meet the plains, Karlovac is a sanctuary for cyclists coming through Croatia. This route is provided by the Tourist Board of Karlovac.

The ride begins through the old center of Karlovac that is shaped in a six-pointed star, surrounded by medieval moats. One of the most picturesque examples of a renaissance town, Karlovac was later transformed into a baroque town with many examples of “folk baroque” in sight.

Once you reach the bridge over to the Kupa river, you will pass through suburbs and villages surrounded by cornfields where you will reach Jaškovo, a small village within the city of Ozalj in Karlovac county.

From here you will approach the Dobra river, where you will cross the bridge near the restaurant “Papalina” and return to Karlovac through another village named Zadobarje.

The ride then continues on a small asphalted road - a stranger to traffic. You will then follow the River Dobra that will lead you to Novigrad na Dobri where, after crossing the old stone bridge, you will begin to climb up to the old fortress that has a renovated tower - which also serves as a belvedere.

From the belvedere, you can observe the flow of the river Dobra surrounded by thick, green vegetation. You will ride on the hillside and through the many villages, making a steep descent after the village of Vučjak that will lead you towards the old 13th-century fortress of Dubovac. The fortress is situated on the hill above the town, and from one of its towers, you can see almost all of Karlovac.

The entire route length is 39 kilometers, with an altitude difference of 216 meters.
