For International Youth Day 2017, on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at 18:00, a humanitarian bicycle race will be held “Pedal for the Center Juraj Bonači," reports Dalmacija News on August 5, 2017.
Dedicated to informing the youth about the needs of people with disabilities, the importance of recreation, the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, and the intergenerational solidarity and integrative dialogue among citizens, the Youth Club of Split will bring together more than 80 cyclists at Marjan Park Forest for the first time for this cause.
The humanitarian cycling program will start at 15:00 at the Northern Marjan Gate where citizens will have the opportunity to repair their bicycles free of charge.
From 18:30, the cycle will begin, which will continue along the Marina Tartaglie promenade to the Institute (ramps), and will continue along Marangnić's promenade and the Marjan road to the top of Marjan. The route ends by descending the Marjan road to the ramp (towards Varoš).
After the race, everyone will gather for refreshments (on the streets Gorski put and Mandalinski put to the North Gate) to the playground of the Tourist and Catering School under the Northern Gate of Marjan.
All collected funds will be donated to the Juraj Bonači Center for the landscaping of the sports-educational yard at the center. This will raise the quality of the premises and allow for more outdoor activities, which ultimately improves the sensory and motor skills of the users.
Participation in the cycling event is free. Since it is a bicycle race of humanitarian character, all participants are invited to donate funds to the humanitarian account: HR5324020061500056835 (active until September 15, 2017)
